soundpedro is an annual season of experimental sound art events that consider the ways to perceive, produce, and experience sound. Produced by the artist group FLOOD, in partnership with Angels Gate Cultural Center, soundpedro is not a music event.
Sculptures, environments, installations, timed and ongoing performances, interactions, and presentations are placed throughout the Angels Gate Cultural Center site (*AGCC has 7 acres of outdoor space). This year’s on-site events address, among other things, modes of experience beyond the ordinary, within different domains. Senses blur and the subconscious stirs within the vibrant world of synesthesia-where colors murmur and sounds shimmer-and the mysterious depths of the chthonic, evoking primal forces and shadowy underworlds.
Chthonic: relating to the Underworld, a realm ruled by enigmas and psychopomps, a place of forgotten or yet to be remembered potential. Don’t mistake it for mere subterranean; chthonic implies both profound existential dread and hope.
