Social Fabric / Curated by Sue-Na Gay / Torrance Art Museum

Social Fabric

Torrance Art Museum: Gallery Two

September 18 - December 4, 2021

An exhibition of socially engaged fiber art which explores the framework and constructs of contemporary society through the softened lens of fabric, plush and yarn.

Taking an often tongue-in-cheek approach, the various tapestries and soft sculptures presented show lightly satirical takes on modern life. From Instagram worthy moments and internet tropes, to comment board vitriol and visual puns, the various works on display challenge ideas of ‘women’s work’, representation, and our ever-increasing connection to social media and technology in a post-pandemic world.
