Perceive Me is a social practice art project by Los Angeles artist Kristine Schomaker. Since 2018, Kristine has been posing nude for artists — inviting them to see her body exactly as it is and create whatever they want from that seeing. The result is a collection of 100+ portraits by different artists, each one a completely unique interpretation of the same body. Paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures, video, ceramics, glitch art. Every medium, every perspective.
The project started personally — a way to reclaim her relationship with her own body after years of an eating disorder and a lifetime of being told her body was too much. It became something much bigger. A community. A permanent archive. A lifelong work headed to a museum collection.
