The Ronald H Silverman Fine Arts Gallery celebrates the 75th anniversary of Cal State LA with the exhibition We Are LA: Contemporary Art from the Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation, featuring 47 of Southern California’s most vibrant artists. The curator Mrs. Billie Milam Weisman collaborated with Mika Cho, Director of the Ronald H Silverman Fine Arts Gallery to create an exhibition that highlights some of the best and brightest of the region.
We Are LA is a thrilling who’s who exhibition and a sublime condensed history tour of California’s colorful contributions to contemporary art, featuring works from the Los Angeles Finish/Fetish and Light & Space movements, Material Abstraction, Pop Art, and lots of particularly fresh, unique and surprising works that the LA art scene is known for.
The sixty works on view are culled from an enormous world-class collection of hundreds, which honors the legacy and vision of Fredrick R Weisman, an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and avid art collector. Weisman’s patronage of working artists left an important impression on the local cultural scene and has advanced since his death in 1994 through the efforts of the Foundation which continues to compile one of the most diverse collections of art outside of institutions.
The Ronald H. Silverman Fine Arts Gallery is a perfect fit for an exhibition of the scope and magnitude of We are LA, on view through October 22, 2022.
